Don’t underestimate the amount of water that you should be drinking. Even in our normal, everyday lives, most of us likely do not drink enough water. Drinking eight glasses’ worth of water each day just sounds like too much. But if you do the research, you’ll see just how many conditions sufficient hydration can fix or improve:
- water flushes out toxins
- aids in proper digestion
- keeps away fatigue due to dehydration
- softens stiff muscles
- facilitates healing and recovery
- stabilize effects of a survival diet
I think you could add that water helps with headaches (fighting them off, preventing them) and it is likely that water balances the body’s chemical systems, facilitating mood and energy stability. The next time you’re feeling tired in the middle of the day, drink a good glass of water – you’re probably dehydrated. Seriously, try it.
It might be possible to “get by” on a drastically reduced supply of water, but for the above reasons, this is really the last thing you want to have to cut back on.
Whereas cash and information are your social lifelines, water is your body’s lifeline. Whenever you feel like crap, half of your problems can be alleviated with more water intake.
